How to Check the Wear Degree of Brake Pads?

The methods of checking the wear level of brake pads are as follows:

1、 Check the thickness of the friction plate .The brake pad consists of two parts, one layer is made of steel plate made of metal, and the other layer is made of friction material. When braking, the friction pads collide with the brake discs, causing friction, which has the effect of a brake pedal.Usually the total thickness of the friction plate is generally 10mm. When the friction plate has a remaining 5mm, it indicates severe wear and the brake pad needs to be replaced. Under normal circumstances, the front brake pads of the car wear faster than the rear brake pads, if the driver finds the brake pedal of the car in the following circumstances, the brake pads need to be replaced.

1、 the drivers can remove the brake pads to check, if the brake pads are found to be thinner, it is necessary to replace the brake pads, the normal thickness of the brake pads is 1.5cm, if it is less than 0.5cm ,it needs to be replaced in time.

2、 The car's system will prompt for brake pad replacement, and the driver can replace the car's brake pads after seeing the prompt.

3、 If the car makes a sharp metal material friction sound when braking, it indicates that the brake pads are severely worn and need to be replaced in a timely manner.

4、If the driver finds it very difficult to apply the brake and the braking distance significantly increases , it indicates that the brake pads are severely damaged and need to be replaced in a timely manner.
