Domestic Brake Pad Factories Accelerate Technological Upgrading, Green Production And Internationalization Become New Industry Trends
Recently, driven by the continuous growth of global vehicle ownership and the rising market penetration rate of new energy vehicles, the automotive brake parts industry has ushered in a new round of structural upgrading. Large-scale domestic brake pad factories have continuously increased investment in research and development, focusing on environmentally friendly formulas, automated production lines, and international market certifications. The entire industry is witnessing the phase-out of low-end backward capacity, the expansion of high-end production capacity, and a steady recovery in overseas export orders.
Under the dual requirements of global environmental regulations and international market access standards, traditional asbestos-containing and high-copper brake pads are gradually phased out of the mainstream market. Non-asbestos organic (NAO) brake pads and low-metallic silent brake pads have become the standard configuration of the industry. Leading domestic brake pad factories have completed comprehensive formula upgrades in recent years, eliminating high-pollution raw materials. At the same time, manufacturers focus on developing lightweight and low-noise brake products specially adapted for new energy vehicles, greatly improving product competitiveness in European, American, South American and Southeast Asian markets.

In the manufacturing sector, intelligent and automated transformation has become the core method for brake pad factories to improve quality and reduce costs. Traditional workshop production modes relying on manual batching and manual pressing are being replaced by automatic batching systems, CNC hot-pressing equipment and fully automatic polishing production lines. Intelligent manufacturing effectively improves the stability of brake pad density and friction coefficient, reduces product defects such as delamination, cracking and abnormal noise, and continuously narrows the quality gap between Chinese brake pads and international famous brands.
In terms of overseas trade, certified brake pad factories with E-MARK, INMETRO and other international certifications have achieved significant order growth with the recovery of global auto parts trade. Most manufacturers focus on the global automotive aftermarket, adjust product parameters according to local vehicle models in different countries, and expand overseas market share relying on high cost performance. The export volume of Chinese brake pads has maintained steady growth for consecutive quarters.
Industry analysts pointed out that future competition in the brake pad industry will shift from simple price competition to comprehensive competition in technology, quality and certification. Small-scale non-standard brake pad factories without independent R&D capabilities will be gradually eliminated by the market. Formal brake pad factories with independent formula research, intelligent production systems and complete international certification systems will embrace broader development opportunities, further accelerating the globalization process of Chinese brake pad brands.
